Was interesting that all references to the Kingdom Come book were replaced with the 2005 book, What Does the Bible Really Teach, which doesn't present any scholarly information at all, only the Society's view. No one will even know there is evidence one can research to the contrary. As Drew Sagan pointed out to me, this keeps them ignorant, which equals control.

September KM - 70 alterations in Revelation Climax Book
by dozy ini can't find a thread on this subject yet - if there is one , please delete this one.. the september kingdom ministry has a 4 page insert detailing the 70 alterations in the revelation climax book which is due to be studied at the book study shortly.
i'll provide scans if anyone is interested.. i will leave it up to more experienced analysts to examine the reasons for specific changes , but just a few brief observations for now:.
p32 box - "they were completely exonerated" changed to "charges against them were dropped" - interesting change of terminology for the 1918 watchtower eight.

IS EVOLUTION THE ANSWER?
by Dansk ini'm currently reading richard dawkin's book the ancestor's tale and it suddenly struck me that evolutionists believe all men are equal seeing that we all came from a common ancestor.
that being the case, would it not serve man to believe in evolution?.
turn on the t.v.

Just read over an article last night written by Ken Raines on Theistic Evolution. I didn't realize the Society endorsed this thinking until at least the 1920's. It does give one a lot to think about. The site is www.premier1.net/~raines/theistic.html. It's especially interesting since the Society claims that their not believing in evolution was one of the things that made Jesus select them in 1918.

Revelation Climax Bk = Delete Kingdom Come references
by Little Bo Peep inthe changes to the revelation climax book include deleting all references to the kingcom come appendix and instead refers you to the new, 2005 book, what does the bible really teach, pg 215-218. all comments on secular sources are gone.
just the wt reasoning.
found it interesting that they didn't say jerusalem was destroyed in 607 bc, rather it was "conquered" and "fell to the babylonians" at this time.

Non-JW question--A repeat, I'm sure, but would like to know.........
by whyizit ini've never been a jw.
i understand that there is a lot of pressure and that many relationships stand to be ruined if a jw decides to exit.
*i understand they get shunned, just like jesus was constantly doing in the nt.

We started questioning things after the Dateline program on child abuse. Also my father had recently died. The doctor asked me why we could take albumin when it was blood and the only ansere I had was the WT said it was ok, so it must be so. I also found out the WT says Jesus is my mediator only if I am in association with the faithful slave. Those three things were the start of two years of intense researching and reading. Fortunately for us, we both came to the same conclusions and left at the same time, about 4 years ago not, although we aren't formally out. I am debating with myself on writing a DA letter, going along with what they want from me. We have most of our family out except my mother-in-law and son. She doesn't shun us, but our son and his wife do so completely. When I saw him at the store last week, he wouldn't even look at me, holding his hand out saying "no Mom, no". We havn't seen him in two years and our granddaughter in three. He has only heard gossip and refuses to give us a hearing ear at all. Hope in time he will see we are still the loving parents that raised him.

Why Tracts? And Why Now?
by metatron inah, the poor watchtower!
( is that literal these days?).
with their contributions sinking and expenses growing, they may have to further reduce the magazines - perhaps eliminating the awake.

My mother-in-law told my husband excitedly today that there would be a new tract work, and everyone in the territory will be invited to the convention, and that it surely must mean something is going to happen soon. My husband ask her if she really thought we'd die at Armageddon, why didn't she try to talk to us? She said he was to "forceful", whatever that means. He told her why did that matter? She had no answer. She doesn't shun us, but we seldom bring anything scriptural up because she becomes very nervous and the wall goes up. We want to keep some communication open, so we shut our mouths, most of the time.

I was one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 50 years, until I started actually reading the Bible for myself. I realized the Watchtower quotes (or in many cases, gives partial quotes) what will suite them and their teachings. Since reading the Bible, I've come to the conclusion that no one has it all correct. I think most religions have some "truth" in them, but I think our Father looks down thinking, "can't they get it right"? I believe in God, his son, the ransom etc. I think you will find on this forum, that the majority are "believers" though not necessarily believing exactly the same. On this board you can find believers, agnostics, sceptics (mainly of the Watchtower), and non-believers. There are some excellent, very scholarly posts giving a lot to think about. For me it has been a source of "healing" and "association" since leaving my religion of birth. Hope you stay.

My husband was in a similar situation. He began researching, printing stacks of information, and telling me some of the things he was finding out. It scared me so much, I cried, pleading with him that he would be out of the "truth" within 6 months if he kept up. He burned everything that night in the fireplace, but continued lurking. One nite he asked me if I knew Jesus wasn't my mediator. I said that was just apostates talking. He said no, he was reading it from a Watchtower. I turned on my computer and searched the CD Rom, and sure enough, he was right! Was I ever upset, not at him, but the society. That was one thing that started my search. I think the advice to slow down is probably good. Good luck.

Are there not enough anti-Witness books out there?
by free2beme inevery once in awhile i will read comments about someone thinking a new anti-witness book needs to be written, to expose something.
well, recently i took the time to look over the search engines of the internet and found something interesting.
when you type in "jehovah's witness" or "watchtower", you found almost 3 to 1, negative sites and information on the witnesses.

Since our middle son is completely shunning us, even though he has only heard gossip and never once asked us for some facts, I've made a point to tell everyone in our area I can how the WT teaches its members to shun family. They ask "why"? then I've the opportunity to mention a few issues they could ask any JW that come to their door, like why Jesus is their mediator only if they're associated with the WT's 144,000, why JW's aren't told if there is a pedophile in their midst so they can protect their children and why the WT doesn't tell the truth about 607, or the UN issue. It has stirred a number of conversations. One grocery clerk said her church had a program on talking to JW's. Maybe if JW's started getting questioned when they were out in service, someone of them might begin checking things out.

"Theocratic Warfare" - An Apostate Strategy?
by slimboyfat inwho here had ever heard of this so-called 'doctrine' of "theocratic warfare" when you were a jehovah's witness?
who has not heard of the so-called doctrine now that you are an apostate?
so why have witnesses never heard of 'doctrine', yet apostates seem to promote it as the last word on witness standards of honesty, integrity and decency?

"UN nonsense"? My husband and I looked on the UN sight when we first heard about their involvement and at the time, copied much information leading directly to the WT. They certainly were part of the UN and would like to hide that FACT now.

Hi Barb and Joe,
Just finished reading your essay. Only was able to print off 15 pages the other day, but when we returned home we did as you said with a PDF file and all pages copied fine. It's so sad that the ones we love won't even give us a hearing ear. Perhaps someday, who knows what will happen in their lives, that will cause them to wonder at things you have said. Hopefully so. As Lady Liberty said, their hearts need to be open to the real truth first. You both put it all "on the line" for what was the right thing to do, and we all appreciate your efforts. Thank you again.
